You Think? Perhaps that is the agenda!

Does it get anymore bizarre than this? In an article printed in the Jerusalem Post it is reported that the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) has chastised the IDF for being infected with a corrupt morality which lead to the defeat in Lebanon.

What you say the RCA has come out against the spilling of innocent blood? Well yes sort of but only if you consider combatants (and only Jewish ones at that) as the only innocents in war! The post article continues on to say that Rabbis in Israel were more candid as their diasporic comrades were a little shy about criticizing Israel. Rabbi Dov Lior stated:

“There are no innocent parties in a time of war,” he continued. “Rather, one must battle a bellicose city until it is captured. All types of Christian morality weaken the spirit of our army and our nation and cost us the lives of our soldiers and citizens.”

That’s the ticket blame the Christians! But wait are these Rabbis really suggesting Christian morality has ever presented a block to the killing of innocents? Apparently catholics and protestants must not count as Christians! At least now we know why the Christian Lebanese started to get it towards the end. And now we know why Hubert had to go to eh Cherniak!

Kinsella, Cherniak and Co-conspirators have disingenuously interpreted Hubert’s ill faited quote to say that ‘all Jews are violent’ and therefore that Hubert is a “wretched Jew hater”. The second rule of politics is of course to try not to say anything mouth-breathing spin doctors can hang you with. Hubert being just a babe in toy land, it is presumed, has now learned that lesson. However, in the interest of the truth, as opposed to the spin, it is important to discern what the kid actually said. We reproduce the quote in its entirety for purposes of elucidation and without prejudice.

“The Liberal party is stronger without these violent Zionists in our party. I am glad for them to cease influencing our foreign policy so we are free to promote Canadian values of peace. It amazes me that this community is so absurdly selfish. The only issue that matters to them is the defence of a ‘state’ that survives on the blood of innocent people. Shameful.”

The phrase “these violent Zionists” refers to a subset of the group ‘Zionist’. A subset which Hubert thinks are a violent class of individuals within the larger group of Zionists. Now some would argue that Zionism as a nationalist ideology is by definition to some extent violent as all forms of nationalism tend to be. But Hubert is making a lesser claim which simply says that there is a particular subset of Zionists which are violent. Even Benny Morris could agree with this point.

In the second sentence Hubert writes “ it amazes me that this community is so absurdly selfish.” True the pronoun “this” is ambiguous and of course this is where Kinsella, Cherniak and Co., with not so slight of hand, start their demolition act. But given the ambiguity we all know that the only group that “this” could refer to is the one defined in the sentence immediately preceding: that subset of Zionists who are violent and which are threatening to leave the liberal party unless the liberal party supports the subset of Zionist ideology which is violent.

In the third sentence of this paragraph Hubert says that he wants these violent Zionists; (not all Zionists and certainty not all Jews; as Zionists are a subset of Jews. And there are anti-Zionist Jews and non-violent Zionist Jews in Israel and the diaspora), to leave the liberal party because they are engaging in a single identitarian issue that is not about Canada per se, but, rather, support for a foreign state. A foreign state which Hubert thinks has become addicted violence as the only practicable vector of action. Indeed, war is politics by other means.

Now Hubert’s characterization of the State of Israel as a state that thrives off the blood of innocents is redundant because all states to some extent take succor from the blood of innocents. One nations rule of law is itself erected on the blood and bones of someone else’s ancestors. Think of the Americas and the indigenous peoples to get a sense of what we mean here.

The thing about the State of Israel is that we are only a single generation into its birth. The problem with the violent Zionists like Kinsella (see even gentiles can be violent Zionists) Cherniak, and Co. is that they want it both ways. They want to say that the State of Israel is here to stay and if that means spilling innocent blood so be it, but at the same time they want to maintain that theirs is a virgin state without even a spot of matrimonial blood.

The state, as a general rule however, is a beast who at the time of its birthing feasts off the blood of innocents. Israel is not exceptional in this regard and to treat it as such is unfair; yet, not to acknowledge that Israel conforms to the general pattern of state formation is simply to deny reality for political gain: ‘Spin’ as it were.

There is some irony that a man who was once a proud member of the liberal party could end up shilling for the Tories. Diefenbaker’s Tories were notoriously anti-semitic; Mulroney’s Tories, though less shrill, were still no safe harbor for the Canadian Jewry; Joe-Clark’s Tories were a little better but still liberally (no pun intended) salted with laggard anti-semites. Indeed in the back rooms of the more provincial Tory watering holes the Jews were often and still are the subject of many an old saw. Stephen Harper’s Tories we are told are a much improved lot because its millenarian and militant Christian contingent from the west are banking (again no pun intended) on the rapture.

What has changed is that the Tories are now much less nationalist then they have ever been and that a vocal minority within the Canadian Jewry, possessed as it is by a massive bout of diasporic guilt, has become the vanguard of the first generation of Jews in Canada to actively and vociferously get involved in the dirty business of mainstream Canadian politics (much the same thing could be said south of the border). Make no mistake this vocal minority is playing what can only be described as vicious identity politics whereby they determine who is a good Jew, who is a bad Jew, who is a friend to the Jews and who is not. And this is why what a naïve liberal youth has described elsewhere and redundantly as “violent Zionism” is far and wide of the mark. What hard core nationalist ideology is not overdetermined by a heavy dose of violence? Lets just remember where Europe’s nationalism ultimately ended.

And that last sentence brings us back to poor old Warren. In the middle of fight he does not understand with the intellectual capacity of a ten year old; but to be fair with the empathetic heart of a real human being.

Poor old Warren indeed. It is hard to be a Catholic and not feel a little guilty about both your country of ancestral origin and faith: having been conspirators in the biggest anti-semitic plot of all time since the Romans. Who can blame Warren for attempting to track as much distance as possible between himself and a shameful fascist religious past. Once the Pope finally confessed and apologized to the Jewish people of Europe for the Church’s unforgivable role in the Holocaust it was just a matter of time before others entered the confessional. Warren is working, as he should, through his own personal mea-culpas. The problem is that Warren has not intellectually grasped the extremity of the position that his guilt has nonetheless driven him to and which betrays a deep seated anti-semitism.

For Kinsella has taken Gerry’s midnight jet stream express to a land and history he cannot comprehend. Surrounded by well meaning although guilt ridden members of the Canadian Jewry Warren now feels comfortable to declare anyone who dares criticize the Israeli state, IDF, his hawkish friends, or who god forbid empathizes with the Palestinians or Lebanese as anti-semites. By Warren’s formula, i.e., anti-Israel = anti-semite, the hundreds of thousands of orthodox Jews who hold that the Jewish state is a heretical entity must be anti-semitic.

Now “Warren Gentile Lord of the Jews Kinsella” thinks he knows who is Jewish and what a good Jew believes. This kind of stereotyping and cajoling of dissent is nothing other than a contemporary form of fascist politics and when carried out by Kinsella betrays a deep seated anti-semitism. For apparently Warren cannot tell one Jew from another nor can he allow them or their history to be complicated enough to merit serious political engagement. No for Warren all good Jews think like Gerry and Asper and all good friends to the Jews step in line and march in step. Indeed, his un-refracted guilt has lead him, and some would argue his friends, to the new true anti-semitism and for that he deserves more than a good punking.

It is amazing what oil will do for a country’s foreign debt to GDP ratio. Russia has just made the largest single payment ever made by any nation to the Paris Club: a whopping 22.5 billion dollar (US) payment to be more exact. Foreign debt now is 9 percent of total debt to GDP.

It is a pity Canada does not have oil. Imagine how quickly we could reduce our national debt if we did. Unfortunately Alberta has the oil and constitutionally speaking it is all theirs. Indeed it is the Democratic Republic of Alberta (DRA) and the Oil companies that are swimming in the cash while the rest of us are taking a bath. Manufacturing is reeling under the weight of increased energy costs and a high dollar (which is itself partly the result of high energy prices).

There was a time when this would not have been an issue. A time when the state was allowed to own productive assets and not just laggard liabilities. Imagine if the Feds still owned Petro-Canada or more boldly controlled a third of oil production why we would be swimming in cash instead of drowning in energy related debt. Yes friends given the timidity of the liberals and their general march to the right over a decade and a half we have a federal government whose only capacity to raise cash is through increased tax receipts (either through growth or increased tax rates) or via the sale of more public assets.

We here at Canadian Observer certainly believe in the free flow of ideas. The Toronto Sun published our blog without our permission and despite the fact that we clearly outline the terms of use which read as follows:

I write urging you to call for an immediate end to the Government of Israel’s
pre-texts which continue to undermine the fragile cease-fire in Lebanon.
Moreover, I ask you to support a position which ends Israeli military raids
into Lebanon, and to continue to press for urgent peacekeeping support, which
will bolster the Government of Lebanon’s position as it aims to uphold its
international commitments.  Further, a substantial peacekeeping mission
will eliminate the potential for re-arming of Hezbollah, and provide for
international accountability for both Hezbollah and the Israeli Defence Force’s
actions there-disabling claims to pre-texts which contravene UN expectations and
increase the risk of failure of the current ceasefire.

Moreover, ending the IDF maritime blockade of Lebanon remains a crucial factor
in the provision of humanitarian aid to Lebanese war affected families. Thank
you for your urgent consideration. Time, as well as pre-texts for failure are a
caustic recipe which will lead to the further destabilization of Lebanon.

Syrian and Lebanonese officials expressed outrage at the killing of 26 innocent farm workers. Israel responded by arguing that both the workers and their would be pickles were part of a sinister plot which left the Israelis no choice but to liquidate them.

Israel said that the Syrian cucumbers and workers were destined for a non Kosher pickling plant somewhere in southern Lebanon where the workers would then package the cucumbers as Kosher pickles. Sources inside Israeli intelligence stated that these faux Kosher pickles were then to be delivered deep inside Israel to settler communities. Once consumed Hizbollah agents would then inform the settlers that they had eaten pickles made according to Sharia Law. Once the IDF uncovered the plot Olmert was immediately informed and he said that “Israel had a right to defend itself by taking any action deemed necessary up to and including nuclear holocaust to keep Israel safe from bogus Kosher food products.

“Intrepid Israeli fighter jet pilots tracked down sinister terrorist cucumbers and other vicious vegetables being loaded onto a refrigerated truck by Syrian seasonal laboerers. Unfortunatedly the wicked terrorist cucumbers were hiding themselves amidst civilian workers, and it was necessary to kill 26 of the latter to end the threat of pickling. Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Dan Gillerman castigated the cucumbers as “animals.” Alan Dershowitz pointed out that vegetables cannot be considered civilians.”
